The Latino Farmers Cooperative of New Orleans has been named a 2009 Innovator of the year by New Orleans City Business.
The LFCL was recognized for being one of 50 organizations which "keep New Orleans a center for creativity... by operating in new and exciting ways."
In the words of City Business:
"The Latino Farmers Cooperative of Louisiana, a social enterprise nonprofit organization motivated by public and social good more than by the need for group profit was also awarded. Their model provides tangible social and environmental benefits to local economies and communities. It is about people coming together voluntarily and independently to meet their common socioeconomic challenges."
